Description
My grandfather would have recommended this 6 1/2 inch rim diameter Lorraine script controllable spotlight with a metal handle as correct for all the big classic closed-car automobiles such as Auburn, Cadillac, Marmon, and other top-of-the-line makes. 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931. And maybe 1932? Regarding the above years 1928-1931, I believe the metal finish on this spotlight is chrome rather than nickel plating, considering it is still shiny after all these years. Nickel would be a duller gray. This puts it post-nickel plating era which ended around 1928, and before the new auto era of 1933-1934 when the old 1920s car look went away. Hence the 1929-1931 early chrome era. It is in good original used condition, appearing to have been carefully parted from a car and stored safely away. Wear from age and use includes light speckling tarnish in the chrome, a dent in the back underside of the spotlight head (see picture), and tarnish to the mirror reflector. Appears to be complete: inner bracket, flat outer bracket for closed cars, ON/OFF switch clicks, glass lens excellent condition, Lorraine badge legible with crisp and bright letters, clincher rim excellent, head turns true and smoothly with the handle, and bottlenose "button" back of the spot head denoting the early era. Not tested on power. Inside my box 2855A
